Great green cleaning products you can use at home

If you’re concerned about the use of chemicals around your loved ones, especially small children and pets, you may wonder if you can get a good clean with green products. Ditch the Single-Use Items

Before starting your next cleaning endeavor, the best prep you can have is to stop using single use items. Things like paper towels or Swiffer pads are single use items that help attribute to landfills. Instead, opt for reusable mops, sponges, or washable towels. Washable and reusable items both last longer and save you money. Remember you can reuse old shirts by using them as rags to help be even more frugal!

Vinegar – The Wonder Liquid

Vinegar is great. You can use vinegar to clean just about anything! Vinegar by itself can kill weeds in the garden, help to dry out and remove mold, clean countertops and other surfaces, and more. Mix vinegar with some dish soap to cut through soap scum. You can wash with vinegar to remove moldy and mildew-ish smells. The key to vinegar is its acidity. While cleaning vinegar is best for, well, cleaning, white vinegar can also be used.

Don’t use vinegar to clean marble, granite, or soapstone surfaces, knives, solid wood furniture, or with any messes involving eggs.

Olive Oil and Lemon Juice

Have some wood surfaces that need a little spit shine? Mix up some olive oil and lemon juice and apply with a cloth, then polish with another dry cloth.

Witch Hazel

Use this common skin soothing liquid to remove price stickers, to clean jewelry, or clean smudges on your sunglasses! You can also use it in conjunction with a nice smelling essential oil to eliminate smelly odors and make your house smell fresh.
